Safeguarding adults and children

Safeguarding children and young people

Hammersmith and Fulham CCG, as part of CWHHE Collaborative, ensures that, in exercising its functions, robust arrangements are in place to safeguard, and protect the wellbeing of children and young people.

This is required by the Children Act. Core Standard 2 provides a framework for meeting these obligations and NHS Hammersmith and Fulham CCG meets these requirements.

Safeguarding Children Policy and Procedure

The CCG has developed a children’s safeguarding policy and procedure.

It is specifically designed to support CCG staff with basic advice and signpost them on how to raise concerns in a consistent manner. You can find the policy here.

Who is a vulnerable child or young person?

A child or young person is someone who has not yet reached their 18th birthday.

Child protection is part of safeguarding, which describes the activity that is undertaken to protect children who are suffering, or are likely to suffer, significant harm.

Children who are defined as being ‘in need’ are those who are vulnerable and do not have a satisfactory level of health or development, or that their health or development will be impaired without the help and support of services. The term 'children in need' also describes children who are disabled.

How do I raise a safeguarding children and young people concern?

If you feel you are not coping or you are worried about a child, please contact children's services at the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. The first point of contact should be the Family Services front door service.
