During Cervical Cancer Prevention Week (25-31 January 2015) local Hammersmith and Fulham GP, Dr Clare Jarman will be doing a talk on cervical cancer, symptoms, causes and prevention of the disease.
According to Cancer Research UK cervical cancer is the twelfth most common cancer in women in the UK. More than 8 women every day are diagnosed with cervical cancer and over three-quarters of all new cases are diagnosed in women aged 25-64. Around 920 women die from cervical cancer each year.
Women are invited for screening every 3-5 years depending on their age and they should respond to this by booking an appointment at their GP surgery or other community clinic.
Contact your GP if you think that you may be overdue for a screening appointment.
The talk will take place on Tuesday 27 January from 1.00pm-3.00pm at Old Oak Community and Children’s Centre, 76 Braybrook Street, East Acton, W12 0AP.
