Shared Lives, a community based service for adults with learning disabilities and other social care needs, has recently been launched in the three boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, and the City of Westminster and is being delivered by Grace Eyre, a charity with over 100 years’ experience. The service enables people with learning disabilities and other social care needs to live life to the full in their community without having to live on their own, or in a care home. It gives people the opportunity to live in a family setting in their local community, offering individuals a unique alternative to the more traditional residential care.
A Shared Lives Carer is someone who opens up their home and family life to include an adult with support needs. Shared Lives Carers come from all walks of life and you don’t need qualifications or experience, just the right attitude and a willingness to truly share your life with another person. Shared Lives Carers are carefully selected and trained by a regulated Shared Lives scheme. You’ll receive training and support and a weekly fee of between £400-£600. You can view our poster here!
