Local residents and interested stakeholders took part in a lively co-design event on 14 April 2016 to discuss the future of the Milson Road Health Centre, located in the Addison ward of the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham.
The meeting, held at the Masbro community centre next door, heard that Hammersmith & Fulham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) plans to retain, refurbish and develop the site.
Toby Hyde, Head of Strategy for Hammersmith and Fulham CCG, commented: “Local people at the event showed a clear preference for retaining Milson Road as a health centre rather than selling it for residential use. The CCG shares this ambition and as well as developing proposals to relocate two local GP practices to the site, will use the feedback from the workshop to consider what other services we might be able to locate at Milson Road that would improve the health and wellbeing of local residents.”
The co-design approach looks to involve all stakeholders in the design process. It is hoped that use of this approach will ensure that the Health Centre meets the needs of the local and wider community and provide a long-term, locally designed solution to a local issue.
Local GPs, councillors, Healthwatch representatives, voluntary group representatives and residents attended the event.
Please note that the report is a summary of discussions had at the event on 14th April, and will form part of the evidence considered by the CCG Governing Body when making a final decision later in 2016.
