Which health services will be open this bank holiday, Monday 2 May?

Ahead of the May bank holiday this weekend, patients in North West London are asked to make sure their medicine cabinets are fully stocked and they have their prescription medications. Many minor illnesses and injuries can be treated easily at home if you are prepared.

Some healthcare services will be open for people that need advice or access to healthcare over the weekend.

GP Appointments and NHS 111

During your practice’s opening hours, you can call your GP and book an appointment at one of these sites over the Bank Holiday period. You will be able to see a GP for routine care such as a check-up, small wound care, cervical screening, contraception advice or vaccines.

You can call NHS 111 if you need medical help fast but it’s not a 999 emergency. NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and calls are free from landlines and mobiles. If you have an Urgent Care need outside of your GP opening hours, call NHS 111 who will determine how best to manage your need.


Walk-in centres

Parsons Green NHS Walk-in Centre is open on Monday 2nd May from 9am to 1:30pm. It is staffed by teams of nurse practitioners who provide treatment and advice for adults on a range of minor illnesses and injuries, without an appointment.

Anyone can attend the walk-in centre, no matter where they are registered with a GP.

If you have any of the following conditions, a visit to Parsons Green walk-in centre could be your best option for fast, effective treatment and advice:

  • headaches, ear problems, sore throat
  • sprains and strains
  • wound infections
  • minor burns and scalds
  • minor head injuries
  • skin conditions
  • chest problems and abdominal pain
  • insect and animal bites
  • minor eye injuries
  • injuries to the back, shoulder and chest
  • emergency contraception

Urgent care centres

Urgent care centres will be open 24 hours a day over the bank holiday. They offer treatment for urgent minor illnesses and injuries and patients can be seen without an appointment.

A&E

In a life-threatening emergency visit A&E or call 999. Accident & emergency departments and 999 are for serious or life-threatening emergencies.
